The Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) started massive missile and drone attacks on Israeli targets late Saturday.
The IRGC’s public relations office announced that the IRGC Aerospace Force launched tens of missiles and drones at specified targets inside occupied territories in response to the Zionist regime’s numerous crimes, including its airstrike targeting the Iranian diplomatic mission in Damascus on April 1.
The Israeli attack resulted in the deaths of two senior Iranian military personnel who were on an advisory mission to Syria as well as five of their accompanying officers.
Brigadier General Mohammad Reza Zahedi, a commander of the IRGC Quds Force, and his deputy General Mohammad Hadi Haji Rahimi were among the seven martyrs of the terrorist attack.
Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei vowed that Iran would “punish” Israel and make the evil regime “regret” its crime of assassinating the country’s military advisers in Syria.
The IRGC has warned the US against supporting and participating in any action that harms Iranian interests, promising a reciprocal and proportional response to American and Israeli threats originating from any country.
The IRGC issued the stern warning early on Sunday in a second statement it released following drone and missile attacks on military sites in the Israeli-occupied territories in retaliation for the regime’s strike on the Iranian consulate in Syria on April 1.
The following is the full translation of the IRGC statement addressing the Iranian people:
After more than 10 days of silence and neglect by international bodies, especially the United Nations Security Council, to condemn the Zionist regime’s aggression and attack on the consular section of the Iranian embassy in Damascus as part of our country's territory and martyring 7 advisors and the failure to punish the criminal regime under the UN Charter Article 7, the IRGC forces, in response to those crimes and fulfilling previous warnings and upholding Iran’s rights and to punish the aggressor, attacked and destroyed key military positions of the terrorist Zionist army in the occupied territories, using their strategic intelligence, missile and drone capabilities.
In following the strategic policies of the Islamic Republic of Iran:
1. The terrorist government of the US is warned that any support and participation in harming Iran's interests will result in a decisive and regretful response from the armed forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran. The US is also responsible for the evil actions of the Zionist regime and should accept the consequences if it fails to control this child-killing regime in the region.
2. While emphasizing the policy of good neighborliness with neighboring and regional countries, it is stated that any threat originating from any country by the terrorist government of the US and the Zionist regime will receive a reciprocal and proportional response from the Islamic Republic of Iran against the origin of the threat.
We assure the heroic nation of Iran that the IRGC and other armed forces will continue to defend national interests and foil attempts by enemies to disrupt the security and peace of people.
