3 people were killed and others missing due to heavy rains in the southeast of the country

At least 3 people were killed and others went missing, including two children from one family, due to the heavy rains that fell in southeastern France, while rescue teams are still searching for the missing people.

A family of four, including two children, was surrounded by water as they attempted to cross a bridge with their car, on Saturday night, north of the city of Nimes.

Paramedics were able to find the 40-year-old mother, who was also in the car, and took her to the hospital, while rescue crews were still searching for the father and two children.

As for the other dead, they were found in the Ghar area after they tried to cross bridges over overflowing rivers.

The first body was found a few hundred meters from the place where a car carrying two Belgian people was washed away on Saturday evening, in the village of Gagnier, north of the Gare region.

One of them was able to get out of the vehicle and take shelter in the branches of a tree for more than two hours before rescue personnel treated him.

A state of orange alert was declared in six regions of southeastern France due to the unprecedented rains associated with Storm Monica.
