Many ambassadors withdrew from the UN Security Council session that focused on aid shipments to Gaza, after Israel's representative to the United Nations, Gilad Erdan, began delivering his speech.
Erdan said in his speech during the session, "Calling for a ceasefire would allow Hamas to continue in power."
He claimed, "Israel did not choose this war, but we will defend our future just as each of you defends the future of your country."
With the presence of the Iranian Foreign Minister at the Security Council meeting, Erdan took the opportunity to repeat the Israeli narrative about the alleged Iranian threat, saying that “the spillover of the conflict does not happen magically, it has been planned.”
Erdan claimed, "The United States' recent interception of a boat that was on its way to Yemen is clear evidence of who is the mastermind of these repercussions, as Iran always stands in the shadows and controls matters."
He said, "All countries in the region have been affected by the claws of Iranian terrorism, which will stop at nothing to expand its Shiite hegemony."
