British Activists Return to UK Following Detention by Israeli Forces During Gaza Aid Flotilla Interception

A number of British activists who participated in the "Global Resilience" flotilla bound for the Gaza Strip have arrived back in the United Kingdom from Istanbul, following their detention by Israeli forces after the flotilla's ships were intercepted at sea.

The activists were greeted at London's Stansted Airport with chants in support of Palestine. Some displayed injuries and marks they claimed were sustained during the period of detention.

Several of the returnees reported that detainees were subjected to physical assaults, resulting in various injuries to the head, ribs, limbs, and other parts of the body. They emphasized that the treatment they experienced was characterized by cruelty and humiliation.

Some activists also recounted being beaten during the transfer from the ships to detention facilities. They added that a number of detainees were denied medical care and medication, despite injuries that required treatment and medical follow-up.

Participants in the flotilla described conditions of detention that they characterized as torture and ill-treatment, stating they could hear cries and pleas for help from detainees requesting water and medical attention. They further confirmed that the detention environment had left both physical and psychological effects on several individuals.

Concluding their statements, the activists called on the international community to intervene to stop the violations they claim to have suffered, and to intensify pressure to protect civilians and ensure respect for international law and human rights.

The return of the activists comes days after Israel intercepted the "Global Resilience" flotilla, which was carrying hundreds of international solidarity activists seeking to deliver humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip—an incident that has sparked widespread international reactions and criticism.
