
During their meeting in New York, Russian Foreign Minister, Sergei Lavrov, and his Algerian counterpart, Ahmed Attaf, stressed the importance of coordinating efforts in the Security Council and the United Nations General Assembly to achieve a ceasefire in Gaza.
The Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement: “Views were exchanged on the current issues on the international and regional agenda, with a focus on the unprecedented escalation in the Palestinian-Israeli conflict area. Special attention was paid to coordinating efforts in the Security Council and the United Nations General Assembly with the aim of a ceasefire and ensuring unhindered access of humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip.”
The two ministers discussed priority tasks to further strengthen the strategic partnership between the two countries on the basis of the agreements reached during the state visit of Algerian President, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, to Russia on June 13 and 17, 2023.
