“The most difficult days of fighting.” The occupation army acknowledges the killing of 24 officers and soldiers in battles with the resistance in southern Gaza.

Israeli occupation army spokesman Daniel Hagari announced on Tuesday morning that 24 officers and soldiers were killed during battles with the Palestinian resistance and the bombing of many buildings in the southern Gaza Strip.

In a press briefing this morning, Hagari admitted that 24 people were killed when two anti-tank missiles were directed at two buildings in which many soldiers were present, and they were in possession of explosive materials that exploded as a result of the firing of the two missiles.

Hagari added, "So far, the names of 10 dead soldiers have been allowed to be published, and in the coming hours more will be published. We are still investigating the cause of the explosion that occurred in the building."

In this context, the Israeli occupation army spokesman admitted that “the battles that the Israeli forces are waging in Khan Yunis, south of the Gaza Strip, are very harsh.”

Regarding the details of the event that led to the killing of 24 officers and soldiers, the Hebrew newspaper “Yedioth Ahronoth” reported that “a group of reserve soldiers from the 261st Brigade, who carry out security duties in the fence area in the southern Gaza Strip, headed yesterday, Monday, on a mission to blow up buildings in the buffer zone near the fence."

According to the information that was allowed to be published, “the soldiers entered a distance of about 600 meters from the fence in the Maghazi camp area, and were asked to destroy 10 multi-storey buildings using mines, accompanied by engineering teams.”

The Hebrew newspaper said, "The forces began to surround the buildings in preparation for their destruction. Then a gunman emerged from one of the tunnels and fired an anti-tank missile at the tank that secured the operation."

The newspaper pointed out that "other fighters fired two missiles. The first was fired at a tank, killing two soldiers. Then a second RPG shell was fired at one of the buildings that contained explosive materials ready to be detonated."

According to estimates, "the missile's explosion in the building's structure detonated many mines and caused the complex, consisting of two buildings, to completely collapse as a result of the massive explosion it caused."

In turn, the Hebrew "Wala" website described yesterday, Monday, that "today is the most difficult day of fighting, as fierce battles took place with the resistance in the city of Khan Yunis, south of the Gaza Strip."

Thus, the total number of Israeli army deaths announced has risen to 559 since the start of the war on October 7, of whom 223 have been killed since the start of the ground invasion and the ongoing clashes with the Palestinian resistance.
