The Muslim Doctors Association will organize an integrated Health Day this coming Saturday across two shelter centers, aimed at providing medical assistance to displaced individuals. The event will feature a team of volunteer physicians from various medical specialties.
Dr. Suhair Al-Barjawi explained that the Association comprises a large number of volunteer doctors who work daily, six days a week, through medical clinics offering primary healthcare and patient follow-up. She added that the Health Day initiative will include medical consultations, examinations, and the dispensing of medication for chronic diseases. This effort is coordinated with the Ministry of Health and several local associations.
Dr. Al-Barjawi confirmed that the initiative aims to serve approximately two to three thousand people across the two shelter centers. It is being conducted in cooperation with the Amel Foundation and medical students from the Lebanese University. Volunteers from scouting organizations will also participate to provide recreational activities for children, alongside psychological support from specialists to help displaced individuals cope with mental stress.
The Doctor noted that on-site coordination is in place to register patient data and ensure follow-up care, with a guarantee to provide necessary medications to patients suffering from chronic illnesses. This step is intended to alleviate health burdens and offer sustainable support to citizens.
She further stated that the Association plans to expand the initiative to other areas and centers to reach the greatest possible number of people in need. Dr. Al-Barjawi emphasized the importance of concerted efforts to meet healthcare needs under the current circumstances.
