Hundreds of thousands of citizens have gathered in the capital city of Tehran and across various other cities in the Islamic Republic of Iran for large-scale demonstrations. These rallies express public support for the nation and its institutions in the face of recent unrest, which authorities have attributed to externally instigated agitators and saboteurs.
The demonstrations commenced in the afternoon, with a major assembly in Tehran's Enghelab Square (Revolution Square), coinciding with similar gatherings nationwide. Participants denounced the recent violent acts and alleged armed terrorist activities that have, according to official statements, resulted in casualties among both security personnel and civilians.
Demonstrators carried images of the founder of the Islamic Republic, Imam Khomeini, the current Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, and the late martyr General Qasem Soleimani. They also displayed copies of the Holy Quran and large Iranian flags, gestures presented as affirmations of their commitment to the country's governing system, national sovereignty, and security.
Since early morning, thousands of Iranians from various social strata, including families of martyrs—particularly those affected by the recent events—have converged to participate. The gatherings are framed as a public condemnation of the actions of armed terrorists and destabilizing elements.
Concurrently, the Iranian government has declared a three-day national mourning period for the victims of the recent disturbances. State media has broadcast an official government statement reporting the martyrdom of 38 security force members during the violent incidents.
