The Yemeni representation of the International Association of Political Experts and Analysts, in collaboration with the Dar Al-Khibra Center for Studies and Development, convened a policy discussion forum titled "The American-Israeli Conspiracy in Southern Yemen: Dimensions and Repercussions." The event featured a select group of politicians, researchers, and media professionals.
The forum reviewed three working papers analyzing the impact of recent developments in the southern Yemeni governorates on both Yemeni national security and regional stability.
During the proceedings, Dr. Hamdi Al-Razahi, the Association's representative in Sana'a, emphasized that the situation in southern Yemen is inextricably linked to broader regional dynamics, particularly in the Horn of Africa following Israel's recognition of Somaliland. He contended that the United States and Israel are actively working to reconfigure the region under the framework of the so-called "New Middle East," with a strategic objective to control vital maritime chokepoints, foremost among them the Bab el-Mandeb Strait.
In a statement to the Unews agency, Mr. Mohammed Mansour, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Information, stated that "the American-British-Israeli project in the region is not a recent development but represents a long-standing ambition of this alliance." He clarified that "Israel's recognition of Somaliland aims to extend influence over maritime passages and gain control of the Bab el-Mandeb Strait and the Suez Canal." Mansour added his belief that "such projects are destined to fail as they contradict the will of the nation."
For his part, Mr. Ahmed Al-Ammad, Vice President of the Dar Al-Khibra Center for Studies, asserted that "the American role in the ongoing events in southern Yemen is pivotal, executed through regional proxies." He explained that "the aggression against Yemen is now manifest in schemes attempting to control the country, appropriate its resources, and embroil it in internal conflicts." Al-Ammad further noted that "while Saudi Arabia and the UAE compete to share influence and interests, these ambitions will ultimately fail, and the project will be thwarted by the free people of Yemen."
Brigadier General Abdullah Al-Jifri also addressed the forum, stating that "the American role in Yemen and the region is a principal one, indicating that the alliance and its proxies are waging a war by proxy." He highlighted that "the United States has economic ambitions in Yemen, particularly in the strategically located Hadhramaut governorate due to its geographic position and abundant resources." Al-Jifri added that current promotions under the label of a "South Arab State" fall within the framework of the historic British project aimed at controlling ports and maritime corridors.
