A speech and cultural event was held at the Great Mosque in Sana'a, the Yemeni capital, to commemorate the anniversary of Rajab Friday for the year 1447 AH, marking the entry of the Yemeni people into Islam. The event was attended by a number of political, religious, and social figures.
During the event, the Acting President of the Change and Building Government, Mohammed Mufiah, emphasized that reviving the memory of Rajab Friday "embodies a great faith-based and historical milestone, where the word of the Yemenis was united in entering the religion of God, rallying under the banner of the Seal of the Prophets, Muhammad (peace be upon him and his household), and mobilizing to support the message of Islam."
He pointed out that "Yemen today is practically renewing this covenant of faith through readiness, steadfastness, confronting global tyranny, and supporting the oppressed Palestinian people." He affirmed that "the sacrifices and blood offered by the Yemenis in the cause of God are a natural extension of the identity of faith and Yemeni wisdom."
In a statement to the Unews agency, Abdulrahman Al-Mutawakel, a member of the Yemeni Scholars Association, stated: "As we commemorate Rajab Friday, we affirm to the entire world that the Yemeni people will continue to support the holy sites and back Gaza, and will not leave its people facing the genocide crimes committed by the Israeli enemy and its American partner."
He added that "the Yemeni people, who distinguished themselves in the ninth year of Hijra by entering Islam and supporting the call, distinguish themselves today by supporting the Holy Quran and Islamic holy sites."
For his part, Taha Al-Hadhari, another member of the Yemeni Scholars Association, stressed that "Yemen's message to the Islamic nation is to call for emulating the Yemeni model in supporting the nation's causes, interacting responsibly with its issues, and transcending sectarian and denominational barriers. This is a practical embodiment of the saying of the Prophet (peace be upon him and his household): 'Faith is Yemeni, and wisdom is Yemeni.'"
In turn, one of the event participants expressed the pride of Yemenis in this occasion, confirming that "the celebration of Rajab Friday comes to immortalize the memory of the Yemenis' entry into Islam and to renew the pledge not to falter or be complacent in supporting the oppressed in Gaza, and as a rejection of silence towards the offenses directed at the Holy Quran."
It is noteworthy that Yemenis across various governorates commemorate the anniversary of Rajab Friday annually, taking pride in their faith-based identity and Islamic history, and renewing their commitment to defending the causes of the nation.
