Hizam Al-Assad, a member of the Ansar Allah (Houthi) Political Bureau, has asserted that any genuine peace process in Yemen must begin with the cessation of foreign guardianship and the withdrawal of external military forces, coupled with the implementation of the humanitarian provisions outlined in the established roadmap.
In statements to the Unews agency, Al-Assad characterized recent developments in the southern provinces as a "redeployment of occupation forces," emphasizing that Sana'a is prepared to counter any new military escalation. He stated that the peace process requires "practical measures," starting with ending foreign oversight of the Yemeni people and the departure of occupying forces from parts of the Republic of Yemen, as well as halting "support for militias and factions associated with the aggression against the Yemeni people."
Al-Assad stressed that fulfilling humanitarian obligations, primarily lifting the blockade and alleviating the ongoing suffering, constitutes the correct path for any authentic peace endeavor. He added that deviating from these principles "constitutes a form of deception."
Commenting on escalating tensions in the Hadhramaut and Al-Mahra governorates, Al-Assad clarified that the situation represents a "redeployment of occupation forces and their proxies in the southern regions." He affirmed that the Republic of Yemen, with its capital in Sana'a, is committed to "liberating all of its territories from end to end."
Regarding Sana'a's stance on the conflict in those areas, Al-Assad described the reality there as "an occupation, regardless of the titles of the conflicts," whether among local or regional parties. He contended that these conflicts "serve the interests of the Zionist entity, America, and Britain" and work to legitimize the foreign presence. He added that "the Republic of Yemen categorically rejects the steps and measures taken by the occupying regional and international powers in Yemen within those regions."
Concerning preparations for a potential aggression against Yemen, Al-Assad claimed there are "direct American-Israeli preparations, as well as those conducted through their regional proxies in Riyadh and Abu Dhabi." In response, he confirmed the existence of "official and popular readiness in Sana'a to confront any aggression," emphasizing that this stance is part of the context of "restoring usurped rights, ending the occupation of parts of Yemen, and supporting the people of the nation, whether in Palestine or elsewhere."
