Iraqi Election Commission: No extension of polling time

Iraq's Election Commission confirmed on Tuesday that there will be no extension of the time for general voting, noting that the machines will stop at 6 p.m.

The head of the media team at the commission, Emad Jameel, said that "the training of our cadres on modern devices led to the success of the operation," noting that "participation rates in the countryside and the outskirts of cities are high."

"The machines will stop at 6 p.m., and there is no extension of the voting time," Jameel added.

"There are 1,200 international observers involved in following up on the electoral process, and the cameras are monitoring the electoral process with video and sound," he said, stressing that "there is still no breach in the voting process and inside the polling stations."
